lately has been fun

we have had a lot of fun lately.
but we have also been kind of busy. but we like busy.

we visited a favorite burger shop that because a not so favorite anymore. too bad smashburger, we really liked you. maybe we should just stick with hires. they have not failed me yet.
and i'll even make an exception for them and eat a hot dog, while NOT at a baseball game.

we hung out with friends at cafe rio for three hours.
helped josh with twitter.

 and continued our three hour conversation at menchies, because i love frozen yogurt, and apparently flowered pants. also, the reason for the high school pride is because this place is a skyline hangout, and they were pretty upset that when they came in we had taken all the chairs.

book club was super fun! we decorated valentine cookies, and of course chatted,
and of course again- book talk only...
we are reading night circus by erin morgenstern. which on the website is listed for $4... darn me.

but not everything is fun and games. i have been doing TOO much of this lately. homework.
math and stats!
i was telling jeff that it is taking over my personal hygiene. because it has gotten to the point where dirt is under my fingernails. how did i let this happen? and how is it still there while i type this, because my friends, this photo was taken on wednesday.
SOS!

other than that- happy friday, and thank goodness it is the freakin weekend!
we're gonna be baking pizza's tonight, sleeping tomorrow, and cheering for the winning team on sunday {i don't even know who is playing...}

#photoaday January instagram challenge

this month we learned that challenges like this are not my forte.
i missed a couple days. i also deleted some of the photos.
i am actually pretty surprised i didn't delete most of them... like my mailbox.
why do i want a picture of my mailbox? how this lasted only phone for more than thirty days is beyond me.

maybe i'll be better at #febphotoaday
it's pretty self explanatory. each day a new picture. why couldn't i complete this? sounds easy.

day 1. you 2. breakfast {wheat thins didn't make the cut} 3. something you adore {my dad} 4. letterbox 5. something you wore 6. makes me smile {the babes} 7. favorite 8. your sky 9. daily routine 10. childhood 11. where you sleep 12. close up 13. in your bag 14. something your reading 15. happiness 16. morning 17. water 18. something you bought {passport for my cruise}  20. someone you love {the person taking the photos...} 22. your shoes {or your husks slips} 23. something old {gammy's furniture} 27. lunch 29 inside your fridge {shoulda skipped this one} 30. oops 31. me again {look at the first picture again}

ok, i guess i did delete most of them.
and now for your viewing pleasure...

i love  being an instagrammer. i feel like i'm in a privileged club for only iPhoners!
i'll take it.

costco

hello costco new members!
yes, that is us!
how come i feel so much more grown-up?
it really is an equal stepping stone to getting your own place together. is that a sad comparison?
i guess i just love myself some costco!

 jeff didn't like our costco trip quite as much as i did. maybe cause there was a jazz game on somewhere at the same time... oops. but i really wanted to get the whole experience. so yes, we did walked up and down every aisle. i think that it's important that we familiarize ourself with our newest grocer.

and then people thought they could hate on our adult decision. what is that all about? it's ok though, i forgive sissy cause she is just lookin' out for me. so thanks sissy. and annie is just warning me to KISS: keep it simple stupid. thanks annie and sissy for keepin' it real!

so guys, if you see me at costco come say hi, and maybe we can get a cheap dc and a hot dog!

MLK weekend

this weekend, and every past MLK weekend for the last 23 years of my life has been spent here {idaho}
doing this {snowmobiling}

and boy, was it cold!
but as always- it was a blast!

we lounged in comfy clothes, ate too much delicious home cooked meals, watched the miss america pageant, played wacky six, ticket to ride, and everyones' new favorite: scramble with friends, found an elk leg, read books, got stuck in the snow a lot, watched good flicks {maybe too much indiana jones}, snowshoed, drank hot cocoa, and had good chats.

it was a much needed relaxing cabin weekend! but we'll take any break from 7:30 am math class eh!

love ya!

pumpkins

ummmmmmm pumpkins are kind of expensive if you don't know what your doing. and we, definitely did not.  my momma and sister went to the pumpkin patch at peterson farms and got
10 pumpkins for $15... jeff and i got 3 for $19.
it was kind of way unfair and way dumb!
but that's ok. we {only me really} love halloween and are willing to pay the price!
we went to rosewood gardens on 3300 so. and oh my the people that work there are something else.
but they LOVE halloween! sometimes i wonder how places sell all their halloween stuff.?

and now our little home is ready for the trick or treaters... that hopefully don't come since we won't be home. but it still looks cute to all the people  who drive by and see it!

our little home + youknowyouloveit

the other day i was on the phone with a friend of mine, who also lives in the delmar. and she was telling me that she had just torn apart her bathroom and painted it. the toilet bowl and everything... she said "well, if i'm going to be here for a little while- i might as well enjoy it."

so i decided i wanted to enjoy my apartment too. and have had all these things i have wanted to hang but have never gotten around to it- well saturday was a work day for me. our apartment is spic and span! and the walls are definitely decorated. and i kind of felt super awesome.

we are all ready for back to school!
and like always youknowyouloveit
and they're pretty funny today.

-the brazilian man we ran into at lunch and then listened to him tell us 45 minute stories about his dogs. He brought his computer over and everything. And then crouched down to pet kira's dog hallie and we all noticed the very large hole in his crotch and his beautiful tighty whitties.

-tiger woods at the Stanford game being very close to us, and jeff decided to yell "trow me your hat!" yes. That is what he yelled to tiger woods. good one jeff.

-people in my ward don't recognize me unless I'm in church clothes.

-lonely island-jack sparrow and another one with akon.

-I walked into our bedroom and caught jeff red-handed kinda shoveling things he didn't know where they went under our bed...

-when I clean the apartment jeff says I hide his things. He says that since I cleaned I know where it us, and he doesn't.... The other day "it" was a slipper. So I told him to look in all the places we put shoes. And then guess where I found it.... Under the bed.

-as we were watching the kardashians, jeff asked me how long i thought they were going to be married, and i told him forever.

-i heard THE BEST STORY about my dad the other day. we were talking about our upcoming hawaii vacay with the family and whether or not we wanted to go to pearl harbor, and my dad was adamant about doing it. and i was so confused cause i was pretty sure my parents had already been. and then i discovered that the reason he wanted to do pearl harbor so bad was because the last time they did it, he got kicked out!     aparently as they take you on the boat you ARE NOT ALLOWED to use your cell phone. well my dad got a phone call that he thought he could sneak. but he couldn't. and was told by the guide that he had his warning and he couldn't get off the boat. so he couldn't. and i about DIED laughing. it is probably my most favorite story ever!

Birthday Babe

jeffy, babe, honeybear, babbbbbbbby, daddy, mybabe, {literally these are names that i call him...}

happy birthday to this mo-foe!
i just love him too much!
jeff is my magical man! he makes tra la la things happen in my life.
today i get to brag about why my hot babe is better than yours.
1. he's a hot babe {yours may not be...sorry}
2. his value of what is important and what isn't {priorities}. he has all his priorities in the right place {me being numero uno {spanish for number one}}.
3. my hard-worker. and yes we all like money, but jeff is not just a quick money guy {sounds a little off since we did sell alarm systems} he is willing to work hard and put the hours in and seriously gets noticed by others he works with. he is constantly succeeding and progressing. and has so much dedication to whatever he sets his mind to. and he ACES interviews. never once not gotten the job.
4. his love and appreciation of family.
5. babe is so patient. those who know me know how patient he really must be... i'm not crazy or anything- but i get hyper often, refuse to let him fall asleep before me, i get anxious on travel drives, when i need a DC- i sort of NEED a DC, i sometimes have really strange and weird opinions, a lot of times i am stubborn just to be stubborn, etc... anyways he is always there for me and never gets annoyed. maybe he does... patients though right?
6. his righteous being. click here for more on that.
7. he really is the funniest person that i know! and i am NOT just saying that cause he is my hubby- but he really is the funniest person ever, CAN ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH! ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS.
8. his hairy chest. yum.
9. babe is humble.
10. babe likes to snuggle, but at sleeping time he does not. but lucky for him i do! and i will not budge on it. we snuggle to sleep and in sleep. we have two sides of the bed but we only occupy one. for proof click here. it's funny i promise.
11. babe is always on time... and i think that he wishes i were that way too. but he is patient.
12. ummm he is friends with all my friends. and that is hard to find.
13. he is going to take me to lady gaga and i cannot wait.
14. he is my perfect other person. really and truly we go together like "one two punch," peanut butter and jelly, chips and salsa, the birds and bees {hahahahhahahaha}, etc.. {can you see the importance of jeff's patience?}

LOVE HIM.
i, i love you like a love song baby!

First Anniversary

We celebrated our first Anniversary just the other day!
Since we were in the small town of Wheatland where the luxurious hotels are sparce and the we were already living in the motel 6 we decided to be all 'north face' and go camping!
Judge all you want on whethere this classifies as a fun romantic anniversary or not- but you know we handled it- it was both fun and romantic!
We drove to Hartville, which is a little historic town in Wyoming for dinner. It was so fun, and Jeff claims it blew Ruth's Chris out of the water!
And then we went camping, and it was too dark to set up a tent... so we decided to sleep in the car and I got realy cozy with all the buggis!

It was so pretty and an experience we will never forget! And we also set the car alarm off twice! Once at 1:00 AM and couldn't find the keys and again at 7:00 AM. Yay for wake up calls! We drove home and stopped for yummy breakfast on the way!

year one.

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY TO US!
It is crazy to think how it has already been one year!
But when we think back on everything, we realize we really fit a lot in actually.
And learned a lot.

Our wedding day was our dream come true.

Honeymooning in DR
We Moved into our First apartment
first time ever living away from home- besides Jeff's mission (doesn't count). And besides my semester in the ChiO where I paid to sleep at my parents house.
... I'm sorry I only have pictures of the bedroom. Weird I know- we're getting uber personal and intimate.

Of course we went to St. George. It's like a rule if you live in SLC you have to go to S.G. once a year.

Self explanatory. But we went to the fair in SL and in Ft. Collins.
Most importantly though- my fav! The Zoo came back to Shivers.
I'll be honest I never liked candyland- it was gross how they had all that old candy on the wall, and the train never fit in. But the zoo is so cute.
I started eating fruit. Breakthrough.

We Celebrated Holidays with friends and family! And played "minute to win it" and it was rigged cause my little minute game was IMPOSSIBLE!

We sat on Santa's lap!
Yellowstone Snowmobiling! aka your fav! Where my love for Hot Chocolate surfaces as well as your dislike for it.

We Snowshow'ed to the top of SLC, literally.
It was much more intense than we had anticipated.

Vegas

you know we celebrated the ROYAL WEDDING!
with tea and crumpets.

We discovered that after 22 years of living, I actually do like sushi.

We moved out of our first little apartment...
and it took us FOREVER!

...and we moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado. And we L-O-V-ED it!
Such a fun town, and so fun to live away- even for a short summer.

eek, we are currently training for a Century- we'll see.

  • We traveled to the DR for our honeymoon, and learned the hard way that I wasn't Mrs. Monson until I switched over my passport, social security card, etc. We had to have a friend run down to the temple before it closed to get a copy of our marriage license so that we could show it to everyone who wonders why the ticket name doesn't match the license/passport. We were just so giddy when we booked our tickets- silly lovebirds!
  • Jeff got a road bike and I taught him the ways of the road. And we signed up for a century- we are crazy.
  • We started the B.O.M....
  • We moved into our first apartment, and out! And boxed it up and rented it to our good friends.
  • We both went through multiple jobs; U of U internship, clearlink, usbank, bloomingsales...
  • We lived one entire week in a Motel 6 in baby town Wheatland, Wyoming.
  • Jeff learned the hard way of my LOVE for animals... I saved a kitten (tried to convince him why we needed to keep it while moving to different hotels and with a dog...), volunteered at the Humane Society, tried to save a dying baby bird, have pulled over for MULTIPLE running around dogs... hence Moby, tried to convince him why we should keep a little frog I found, etc. I really sound absurd.
  • Jeff discovered mint.com, Which I hate. It let's us know how much we really spend on maverick...
  • We became obsessed with Friday Night Lights.

We truly have loved our first year of marriage. We have experienced so many new things together and have most definitely had fun the entire time. I am so proud of the little independent couple we have become- especially in the last little bit living away.

Although our anniversary may not be spent in the most ideal of places- we are excited anyways! And I think that we both have some fun ideas up our sleeves. We will never forget where we spent our first anniversary. And we are excited for whatever is next.
